Woodmead, Sandton

Four highways meet in Woodmead, the N1 Western Bypass, N1 Ben Schoeman, N3 Eastern Bypass, and the M1. Access is off the Woodmead offramp to the M1. Several large business are located in Woodmead, including 3M, Accenture, and SAP. Woodmead is made up predominantly of leafy gated communities and little strip malls. The suburb is popular with those working in Sandton, Fourways and Midrand.

Johannesburg's popular Pick 'n Pay 94.7 Cycle Challenge starts at the intersection of Woodmead Drive and Van Reenen in Woodmead. This is cycle race is held every year and is sponsored by 94.7 Highveld Stereo, a popular regional radio station. Woodmead is also home to a large 18-hole golf course, which opened in 1968.
The golf course is well known for its dogleg-right 389 metre par-four 7th hole known as ‘the Gobbler’ named after the thicket that appears to claim golf balls. A little further up the drag, en route to Midrand is Vodacom’s World of Golf, which helps you improve your golf by practising every shot imaginable.
